Gypsum also utilizes the principle of calcination especially in removing chemical water from its ground state. Recycling companies also use custom application of kilns especially in reclaiming nickel. Electronic components that would otherwise go to waste and contains nickel can be recycled. Kilns utilizes the high temperatures to recover these valuable mineral.

Why would a rotary kiln need maintenance?

A rotary kiln is a high performing equipment and it definitely needs regular maintenance and inspection to ensure round the clock operation. Be sure to check the refractory for cracks. Repair it before it is too late. The refractory experiences extreme heat and it may go dry and in the process start cracking. Secondly, the burner should be assessed for wear with special attention to the burner nozzle, and sensors. Repairs should be done through replacement. Maintenance and inspection should also be done on the seal for deformation. Damaged seals may allow air leak into the heat chamber and it may interfere with the reaction. Moreover, check for correct alignment of the rotary kiln and if there is misalignment, check the tyres, girth and roller for wear. Conduct necessary replacements and repairs.
